Maxwell always served undergraduate social science students. But, for this fall’s incoming class, admission to Maxwell is direct and the “Maxwell freshman” is official.

Maxwell students named 2019-20 Remembrance Scholars
The scholarships were founded as a tribute to—and means of remembering—the 35 students who were killed in the Dec. 21, 1988, bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland, and are funded through an endowment supported by gifts from alumni, friends, parents and corporations.

Syracuse University held the third annual One University Awards Ceremony on Friday, April 12, 2019, in Hendricks Chapel, honoring dozens of members of the University community for their scholarship, teaching, academic achievement, leadership and service.

Derek Slap sworn in as Connecticut State Senator
Derek Slap ’95 B.A. (IR) was recently sworn in as a Democratic state senator for the 5th State Senate District of Connecticut. Slap is also the vice president of marketing and communications at the UConn Foundation and a lecturer in political science at Yale University.

Four Maxwell students named 2019 Syracuse University Scholars
Dina Eldawy, Crystal Letona, Danielle Schaf and Nathan Shearn were among the twelve seniors named as the 2019 Syracuse University Scholars, the highest undergraduate honor that the University bestows.

Conti joins Meridian International to help build global programs
Katie Conti ’18 B.A. (IR) is a special assistant for the GlobalConnect Division of the Meridian International Center, a nonprofit, nonpartisan diplomatic and global leadership institution. Conti was previously a staff assistant at the Brookings Institution and a summer intern at the Center for Strategic and International Studies.
